Product Info
The Biostat® RM and its corresponding Flexsafe® RM bags form a high-performance wave-mixed bioreactor system. This technology utilizes a rocking motion to provide low-shear aeration and mixing, making it the industry standard for seed train expansion and the cultivation of shear-sensitive cells.
Biostat® RM
The Biostat® RM is the rocking platform and control unit designed for flexibility and ease of use in both R&D and cGMP environments.
-
Rocking Motion: Provides effective gas transfer without the use of an impeller. The rocking angle and speed are fully adjustable to optimize oxygen transfer (kLa) while maintaining a low-shear environment.
-
Modular Design: Available as a basic system for simple applications or as an advanced version (Biostat® RM TX) with expanded automation for cell therapy.
-
Control Integration: Managed by the BioPAT® DCU controller, allowing for precise regulation of temperature, pH, DO, and rocking parameters via a user-friendly touchscreen.
-
Scalability: Supports culture volumes from 100 mL up to 100 L (depending on the model), serving as a reliable scale-down model for larger wave systems.
Flexsafe® RM
Flexsafe® RM bioreactor bags are the single-use "vessels" specifically engineered for the Biostat® RM rocking platform.
-
Advanced Film Technology: Made from Flexsafe® film, which utilizes a highly consistent, S80 polyethylene contact layer. This ensures excellent cell growth by eliminating the risk of toxic leachables and extractables (L&E).
-
Integrated Sensing: Available with pre-installed, single-use optical sensors for pH and DO, allowing for non-invasive monitoring and automated control.
-
Gassing and Porting: Equipped with sterile filters for inlet and exhaust gas, as well as multiple C-Flex® or TuFlux® tubing lines for sterile welding and liquid transfer.
-
Vessel Configurations:
-
Basic: For simple expansion without integrated sensors.
-
Optical: Includes pH and DO sensors for closed-loop control.
-
Perfusion: Features an internal filter membrane for high-density culture applications and continuous processing.
-
